
Amidst the surge in Omicron cases in the country, the authorities in Mumbai have imposed Section 144 of CrPC from December 30 till January 7, 2022.
The authorities have imposed fresh set restrictions to curb the spread of the new variant. As per the new restrictions, New Year celebrations, parties at any closed or open space including restaurants, hotels, bars, pubs, resorts and clubs have been prohibited in the city during the period.
Similarly, in Chennai as well a fresh set restrictions are imposed. All vehicular movement has been prohibited from 12 am till 5 am on January 1, 2022 and people are advised to reach home before midnight on December 31. However, those travelling for essential and emergency services will be exempted from the restriction.
This apart, New Year celebrations at public places including beaches have been prohibited in Chennai.
