
Bhubaneswar: Strengthening development in Kandhamal district, Odisha Chief Secretary Anu Garg reviewed key projects across sectors including tourism, agriculture, education, and infrastructure, stressing the need for a coordinated approach to drive growth.
Building on her earlier visit to the district, Garg highlighted the untapped tourism potential of Daringbadi and nearby locations. She called for improving amenities at major attractions such as Hill View Park, Nature Park, and Coffee Garden to attract more visitors and generate local employment.
The Chief Secretary also emphasised the promotion of integrated farming practices, encouraging cultivation of high-value crops like turmeric and strawberry. She underlined the importance of strengthening value chains by improving packaging and marketing of forest produce such as honey and tamarind to enhance income opportunities for local communities.
During the review, District Collector Vedbhushan outlined 25 major initiatives being undertaken in the district. These include efforts to improve digital connectivity, expand irrigation coverage, and ensure reliable power supply.
Infrastructure development featured prominently in the discussions, with a focus on expediting the Phulbani mega pipe irrigation project, enhancing rural road connectivity, and upgrading the Kandhamal–Gajalbari road.
