Bhubaneswar: The ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral roll in Odisha has gathered momentum, with more than 41.6 lakh voters receiving enumeration forms within the first four days of the statewide exercise aimed at updating and strengthening the voter database.
According to the office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), enumeration forms had been distributed to around 41.60 lakh electors across the state by 7 pm on Tuesday. Election officials described the response from voters as encouraging and said the revision process is progressing smoothly across urban, rural and remote areas.
To ensure accurate and inclusive voter registration, Booth Level Officers (BLOs) have been conducting extensive door-to-door visits across all assembly constituencies. Special emphasis has been placed on reaching voters in tribal and geographically inaccessible regions to ensure that every eligible elector is covered under the exercise.
A total of 45,255 BLOs have been deployed across Odisha for the revision drive. During household visits, BLOs are distributing two pre-printed copies of the Enumeration Form (Annexure-III) to voters. One completed copy is collected for official records, while the second copy, duly acknowledged by the BLO, is returned to the voter as proof of submission.
To make the process more convenient, the Election Commission has also provided an online facility allowing voters to download the enumeration form from its official website, complete it and submit it digitally.
Election authorities clarified that no additional documents are required to be submitted along with the enumeration form during the ongoing revision process, making the exercise simpler and more accessible for voters.
The campaign is also being supported by 33,226 Booth Level Agents (BLAs) nominated by various political parties. The agents are assisting in voter outreach, coordination and field-level implementation of the revision programme.
Officials said the objective of the Special Intensive Revision is to prepare a more accurate, transparent and error-free electoral roll by updating voter information, removing discrepancies and ensuring that all eligible citizens are included in the electoral database.
The Election Commission has appealed to voters to cooperate with BLOs and actively participate in the exercise to help maintain a clean and reliable voter list ahead of future elections.
