New Delhi: Umang Narula, Secretary of the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, inaugurated the Swachhata Pakhwada 2024 today, marking the commencement of a two-week cleanliness drive aimed at fostering a culture of cleanliness and hygiene. The event kicked off with the administration of the Swachhata Pledge to all officers and officials of the ministry, reaffirming their commitment to maintaining cleanliness and promoting a cleaner environment.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Satya Prakash, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, emphasized the significance of cleanliness in both personal and social spheres. He outlined the various activities planned for the Swachhata Pakhwada 2024, highlighting the importance of each initiative in promoting cleanliness and hygiene.
As part of the Swachhata Pakhwada, the ministry will undertake a comprehensive review of all pending physical files, ensuring their proper documentation and disposal as necessary. Special cleanliness drives will be conducted within office premises, aimed at maintaining clean and organized workspaces. Additionally, efforts will be made to identify and collect old or obsolete electronic items for auctioning, thereby promoting sustainable waste management practices.
In addition to internal cleanliness initiatives, the ministry will also engage with the community through various outreach activities. An intra-school essay competition will be organized in a selected school in Delhi, aimed at raising awareness about the importance and benefits of cleanliness among the youth. This initiative seeks to instill a sense of responsibility towards cleanliness from a young age, thereby contributing to the larger goal of building a cleaner and healthier society.
The Swachhata Pakhwada will culminate on April 30, 2024, with the distribution of prizes by Secretary Umang Narula to the top three sections that have demonstrated outstanding performance in adhering to cleanliness parameters.
