INS Sarvekshak Completes Hydrographic Survey of Mauritius, Strengthening India-Mauritius Maritime Partnership

Port Louis: The Indian Navy’s INS Sarvekshak achieved a significant milestone by completing the final phase of a comprehensive hydrographic survey of Mauritius, covering an expansive area of over 25,000 square nautical miles. A formal reception ceremony marked the occasion, with Anurag Srivastava, High Commissioner of India to Mauritius, officially handing over the fair sheet of the hydrographic survey, newly prepared nautical charts, and survey equipment to Dharambeer Gokhool, G.C.S.K., the President of the Republic of Mauritius.

The creation of the new nautical charts is expected to play a pivotal role in Mauritius’ maritime infrastructure development, resource management, and coastal planning. This collaboration underscores the enduring partnership between India and Mauritius in promoting regional maritime development and cooperation.

As part of its goodwill initiatives, INS Sarvekshak organized a joint yoga session on January 20, 2025, involving the ship’s crew, personnel from the Mauritius National Coast Guard, and representatives of the Indira Gandhi Centre for Indian Culture (IGCIC). The session highlighted the cultural and spiritual ties between the two nations.

During the visit, Capt. Tribhuvan Singh, Commanding Officer of INS Sarvekshak, met with Shakeel Ahmed Yousuf Abdul Razack Mohamed, Minister of Housing and Lands, Mauritius. The two discussed details of the survey operations conducted by the Indian Navy, emphasizing the mutual benefits of this collaboration.

This successful operation aligns with India’s vision of ‘SAGAR’ (Security and Growth for All in the Region), championed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which aims to promote sustainable maritime development and regional stability.
