Union Minister Inaugurates ‘Bhagwat’ Miniature Painting Exhibition at Allahabad Museum

Prayagraj: In a remarkable celebration of art, culture, and spirituality, Union Minister for Culture and Tourism, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, inaugurated the ‘Bhagwat’ exhibition at the Allahabad Museum yesterday. The exhibition, based on exquisite miniature paintings, is a tribute to the grandeur of the upcoming Maha Kumbh and showcases the rich cultural heritage of India.

Speaking at the event, Shekhawat emphasized the collective efforts being made to make the Maha Kumbh a divine and unparalleled occasion. He lauded the museum’s initiative, stating, “The ‘Bhagwat’ exhibition is a meaningful attempt to enhance this sacred festival, intertwining art with spirituality.”

The Minister paid homage to the statue of Shaheed Chandra Shekhar Azad at the museum premises before reviewing the meticulously curated ‘Bhagwat’ exhibition. He commended the museum team for their outstanding efforts in blending the themes of the afterlife, society, art, and culture through these miniature paintings, which draw from the lives of Lord Ram and Krishna.

Shekhawat highlighted how the Maha Kumbh embodies the essence of India’s unity, bringing together diverse faiths and cultural ideologies. He remarked, “For those who talk about India’s division during the pre-independence era, the Kumbh is eternal proof of our unity.” He also referred to the ‘Shashwat Kumbh’ exhibition showcased at Kala Gram, which illustrates the Kumbh’s role in uniting the country.

The exhibition catalog was released following the inauguration, offering visitors a comprehensive guide to the showcased artworks. Shekhawat noted that the exhibition not only celebrates spirituality but also provides a unique opportunity to delve into India’s artistic depth.

After the inauguration, Shekhawat toured the Azad Path, Sculpture Art Gallery, and Terracotta Art Gallery, gaining insight into the museum’s rich legacy. Museum Director Shri Rajesh Prasad briefed the Minister about the historical significance of the collections.

As part of the event, the Minister also launched the museum’s quarterly magazine Vividha and unveiled a special Maha Kumbh entry ticket for the museum. The occasion was attended by museum officials and distinguished citizens, reflecting the city’s deep connection to its cultural and spiritual heritage.
