Induction Training Programme for OAS Probationers Inaugurated at Gopabandhu Academy of Administration

Bhubaneswar: The Induction Training Programme for Odisha Administrative Service (OAS) probationers from the Direct Recruitment (2022) and Promotee Recruitment (2020-24) batches was formally inaugurated at the General Gopabandhu Academy of Administration. The event was graced by G. Mathi Vathanan, Additional Chief Secretary to the Government and Director General of the Academy, who set the tone for an intensive and transformative training journey for the new officers.

The training programme has been designed to equip Officer Trainees with essential administrative and governance skills, combining academic modules and practical exposure. The Direct Recruitment (2022) batch will undergo 22 weeks of training, while the Promotee Recruitment (2020-24) batch will complete 10 weeks of structured learning.

In his motivational address, G. Mathi Vathanan emphasized the importance of citizen sensitivity, inclusiveness, and good governance in public administration. He encouraged the trainees to uphold ethics and integrity in their careers while fostering a positive attitude for personal and professional growth. He also stressed the importance of mental and physical well-being, urging trainees to focus on holistic personality development. Assuring full support from the Academy, he highlighted that the participatory training model would provide a lifelong learning experience blending academic rigor with hands-on administrative exposure.

Lala Manoj Kumar Ray, Deputy Director General, welcomed the Officer Trainees and provided an overview of the Academy’s training programs. He outlined the structure of the induction training programme, ensuring that trainees understand the comprehensive approach that balances theory and practice.

Dr. Monalisa Lenka, Additional Director and Course Director for the OAS (DR-2022) batch, elaborated on the structured curriculum, highlighting both in-house academic sessions and outdoor learning activities within and outside the state. She emphasized that the programme is designed with a well-rounded adult learning approach to ensure effective capacity building.

Dr. Shashank Grahacharjya, Director, Centre for Good Governance, Odisha (CGGO), provided insights into the academic sessions, off-campus learning modules, and assessment strategies. He also detailed the evaluation framework and feedback mechanisms, ensuring a dynamic and responsive learning experience for the trainees.
