India’s Innovation and Leadership in Space, Biotech, and Governance: Dr. Jitendra Singh Speaks on Sansad TV
New Delhi: Union Minister of State for Science and Technology (Independent Charge), Dr. Jitendra Singh, shared insights into India’s advancements in space, biotechnology, and governance during an exclusive conversation with Rajya Sabha MP Vijay Tankha on Sansad TV. The discussion highlighted the transformative changes under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, driving India’s rise as a global powerhouse in technology and sustainability.
Dr. Singh attributed India’s rapid progress in the space sector to policy reforms introduced by the Modi government, opening the domain to private investment and innovation. The space economy, currently valued at $8 billion, is projected to grow to $44 billion by 2035. He emphasized landmark achievements such as the indigenous Gaganyaan Mission, Chandrayaan-4 (2027), Shukrayaan (2028), and the proposed Indian Space Station (2030) as testaments to India’s robust trajectory.
Praising startups and foreign direct investment (FDI) for their role in driving technological innovation, Dr. Singh highlighted missions like SPADEX, which demonstrated advanced docking capabilities, and the Vyom Mitra robo mission, a precursor to human space exploration.
Dr. Singh underscored the potential of biomanufacturing and bio foundries to fuel the Fourth Industrial Revolution. He noted that India’s bio-economy, bolstered by its vast natural resources, is a key driver of innovation in recycling, manufacturing, and biotechnology startups.
“India is one of the first nations to implement a dedicated bio-economy policy,” he said, referencing the BIO-E3 policy that integrates knowledge pooling, public-private collaboration, and startup support. This strategy positions India as a global leader in sustainable bio-innovation.
Dr. Singh emphasized the transformation in governance under PM Modi’s vision, with initiatives like Mission Karmayogi focusing on role-based capacity building to modernize bureaucracy. Digital advancements, such as the face-recognition-enabled digital life certificate and dynamic online modules, have made governance more citizen-friendly and accessible.
Addressing climate challenges, Dr. Singh reiterated India’s commitment to sustainability through PM Modi’s Mission LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment), advocating eco-friendly living. He also highlighted India’s leadership in preventive healthcare, achieving global standards in tackling health and environmental concerns.
Dr. Singh concluded by underscoring India’s emergence as a reliable global partner, driven by transparency, innovation, and a conducive environment for startups and industries. Under PM Modi’s leadership, India has positioned itself as a leader in technology, governance, and sustainability, shaping a brighter future for the nation and the world.
