
In a spectacular display of skill and dominance, the Indian Women’s Hockey Team secured an impressive 11-1 victory over New Zealand in the Quarter-Finals of the FIH Hockey5s Women’s World Cup 2024. The team is now set to face South Africa in the semi-final at 23:00hrs IST on Friday.
The match unfolded with New Zealand taking an early lead through a goal from Oriwa Hepi (2′). However, India responded swiftly, with Deepika Soreng (2′) finding the net within fifteen seconds to level the score.
India maintained relentless intensity, and their efforts paid off as Rutaja Dadaso Pisal (9′) scored, propelling India into the lead. Mumtaz Khan (10′, 11′) swiftly followed with back-to-back goals, further extending India’s advantage.
The goal-fest continued with Mariana Kujur (13′, 14′) contributing two quick goals, concluding the first half with India leading 6-1.
The second half witnessed India’s continued control, and Rutaja Dadaso Pisal (22′) secured her second goal, widening the goal margin. Deepika Soreng (25′) added her second goal, while Rutaja Dadaso Pisal (26′, 28′) contributed two more goals to her tally. Deepika Soreng (29′) completed her hat-trick with another goal, sealing India’s commanding victory at 11-1.
