India Showcases MICE Potential at IMEX Frankfurt 2024

New Delhi: The Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, is making its presence felt at IMEX Frankfurt from May 14th to 16th, 2024. The participation aims to spotlight India as a premier Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) destination on the global stage and attract a greater number of conferences and conventions to the country.

IMEX Frankfurt serves as a pivotal platform for the global events industry, offering professionals opportunities to foster connections, enhance businesses, and gain insights into the latest trends.

Recognizing MICE as a niche sector to address seasonality challenges, the Ministry has introduced ‘Meet in India’ as a specialized sub-brand within the ‘Incredible India’ campaign. This initiative aims to showcase India as a year-round MICE destination with top-tier connectivity, state-of-the-art infrastructure, a vibrant knowledge hub, and a plethora of distinctive tourist attractions.

The India Pavilion at IMEX Frankfurt features participation from the India Convention Promotion Bureau, MICE planners, conference organizers, and destination management companies. The pavilion was inaugurated by M. R. Synrem, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, along with other ministry officials.

During India’s G20 Presidency, over 200 meetings were held in 56 cities nationwide, contributing to increased tourism both domestically and internationally. This highlighted India’s robust MICE infrastructure and rich cultural heritage on a global scale. Building on this momentum, the Ministry of Tourism is actively working to position India as a premier global hub for MICE activities.

India’s progress in internal connectivity by air and roads, coupled with ease of travel within the country, has opened up new infrastructural possibilities for organizing conferences and conventions. India currently ranks 9th in the ICCA (International Congress and Convention Association) ranking of countries in the Asia Pacific region as of 2022.
