
In response to derogatory remarks made by Maldivian ministers against India and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, EaseMyTrip, an Indian travel company, has decided to suspend all flight reservations to the Maldives. CEO Nishant Pitti announced the decision on X, supporting the ongoing #BoycottMaldives campaign.
The company has also launched a #ChaloLakshadweep initiative, promoting the scenic Indian destination as an alternative to the Maldives. The move follows a social media backlash, with many sharing screenshots of cancelled bookings, and comes as the Maldivian government suspends three deputy ministers for their derogatory posts.
The Indian Association of Tour Operators anticipates a visible impact on Maldives travel plans in the coming weeks.
