Prime Minister’s Awards for Excellence in Public Administration 2023 Launched

New Delhi: The Department of Administrative Reforms & Public Grievances marked a momentous occasion with the launch of the Scheme and Web-portal (http://www.pmawards.gov.in) for the Prime Minister’s Awards for Excellence in Public Administration 2023 on Monday (January 8,2024). This initiative, under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, aims to recognize and reward exceptional contributions to public administration that emphasize constructive competition, innovation, replication, and institutionalization of best practices.

All Principal Secretaries (AR)/(IT) and DCs/DMs of States/UTs were invited to participate in the launch ceremony through a virtual platform. The registration on the PM’s Awards web portal is now open and will continue till January 31, 2024, providing an opportunity for due registration and the submission of applications.

The scheme for 2023 focuses on two categories: Holistic Development of Districts under 12 priority sector programs, and Innovations for Central Ministries/Departments States, Districts. A total of 16 awards will be conferred, with 10 awards for the Holistic Development category and 6 for Innovations.

The evaluation process involves multiple stages, including short-listing by a Screening Committee, evaluation by an Expert Committee, and final consideration by an Empowered Committee. The selected awardees will receive a trophy, a scroll, and an incentive of Rs. 20 lakh to be utilized for project/program implementation or addressing resource gaps in public welfare areas.

With a period of consideration from April 1, 2021, to January 31, 2024, the Prime Minister’s Awards for Excellence in Public Administration 2023 is set to spotlight exemplary achievements and contributions to the nation’s progress.
