Bhubaneswar: In a significant step towards enhancing passenger convenience, the DigiYatra facility was officially launched at Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA), Bhubaneswar, on Friday. The facility aims to offer a hassle-free travel experience by eliminating the need for long queues and enabling contactless entry for passengers.
BPIA Director Prasanna Pradhan explained the details of the new service, stating, “Passengers must download the DigiYatra App from the Play Store and link their AADHAAR credentials. On the day of travel, they can upload their boarding pass. At the airport gate, entry is granted using their pre-registered facial biometric data.”
The DigiYatra system allows passengers to navigate through the airport without the need for physical travel documents. From airport entry to security checks and boarding gates, the app’s facial recognition technology ensures a smooth, contactless process for travelers.
The launch of DigiYatra on Friday marked the introduction of the facility at nine airports across the country, including Bhubaneswar. Other airports now offering the service are Visakhapatnam, Patna, Raipur, Goa (Dabolim), Indore, Ranchi, Coimbatore, and Bagdogra.
