Bhubaneswar: The Satwalipi Committee on Mahaprabhu Lingaraj Temple has submitted its third interim report to Odisha Law, Works and Excise Minister Prithviraj Harichandan, recommending measures for preserving ritual practices, maintaining temple discipline and repairing the sanctum sanctorum.
The two-member committee, headed by Justice Durga Prasanna Choudhury, with Professor Prafulla Kumar Mishra as a member, submitted the report on Friday. It covers various aspects of seva-puja (ritual worship), the orderly conduct of niti-kanti (temple rituals) and the repair of the garbhagriha (sanctum sanctorum).
The report also documents traditional rituals, worship practices and temple maintenance procedures followed in earlier times. The recommendations are intended to provide a reference for the conduct of religious practices and the upkeep of the historic shrine.
Principal Secretary of the Law Department Pabitra Mohan Samal, Special Secretary Pranab Kumar Patra and Additional Secretary Shiva Prasad Mahapatra were present during the submission of the report.
