Odisha CM Encourages Contestants for 47th WorldSkills Competition

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi today extended his best wishes to the contestants from Odisha who are set to participate in the 47th WorldSkills Competition, to be held in Lyon, France, from September 10 to 15. Addressing the participants via video conference, Majhi praised the efforts of the ‘Skilled in Odisha’ initiative and highlighted the global platform it offers to showcase the state’s talent.

In his message to the contestants, the Chief Minister said, “Even if you come from an ordinary family, this is an opportunity to showcase your talent. The ‘Skilled in Odisha’ program is an inspiration, empowering our youth and putting them on the global map by opening doors to new opportunities. Sixty contestants from India have been selected to participate in this prestigious event, and it is a matter of immense pride that 15 of them hail from Odisha.”

Expressing hope for their success, Majhi added, “You are representing India in this global competition. I pray to Mahaprabhu Shri Jagannath that all of you may surprise the world and bring back medals. Your success will directly reflect the vision of a ‘developed Odisha’.”

Sampad Chandra, Minister of Industries and Skill Development and Technical Education, also congratulated the contestants, emphasizing Odisha’s strong presence in the competition. “Out of the 60 participants from India, one-fourth are from Odisha. You all come from diverse trades, and we hope that, with the blessings of Mahaprabhu Shri Jagannath, you will excel and make us proud,” Chandra said.

Among the 15 contestants from Odisha, the Chief Minister personally interacted with Varun Sahu, Rajendra Bindhani, Kamini Kumari Ram, Disha Darshini, and Amaresh Sahu, encouraging them to give their best.

The event also saw the participation of Additional Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister Nikunja Bihari Dhal, Principal Secretary of the Skill Development and Technical Education (SDTE) Department NBS Rajput, and Director Rashmita Panda, who expressed their support for the participants.
