Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Tuesday conducted a comprehensive review of the implementation of the PM Janman Yojana across the state, urging top officials to intensify field-level engagement and ensure timely execution of development projects in remote tribal regions.
Chairing the high-level meeting at Lokseva Bhawan, the Chief Minister directed all department secretaries to personally visit the remote areas of the 14 districts covered under the scheme. He also instructed District Collectors and district-level officers to assess ground realities by visiting each identified village and habitation, and submit detailed evaluation reports.
The PM Janman Yojana, aimed at uplifting Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs), spans 55 blocks, 1,751 habitations, 289 gram panchayats, and two municipal areas across 14 districts. The scheme is expected to benefit over 68,000 families, covering a total population of 3.14 lakh.
Setting the tone for swift implementation, the Chief Minister reviewed the state’s performance targets for completion by 2026. These include the construction of 45,408 houses, nearly 210 km of paved roads, provision of tap water in 1,646 villages, mobile tower connectivity in 351 areas, student hostels in 405 locations, and 74 multipurpose centers.
Particularly emphasizing health services, CM Majhi expressed satisfaction over the deployment of mobile medical units in all 1,055 habitations located more than five kilometers from a community health center. He stressed the importance of continuing the momentum and ensuring that no area remains underserved.
To accelerate development in PVTG-inhabited areas, the Chief Minister asked officials to prioritize the completion of water supply, electricity connections, and mobile network infrastructure. He also directed the Chief Secretary and departmental secretaries to visit the most inaccessible regions to personally monitor the progress and overcome implementation challenges.
The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja, Development Commissioner Anu Garg, Additional Chief Secretary of Revenue and Disaster Management Department Deoranjan Kumar Singh, and secretaries from various other departments.
