Argentina lifts the FIFA World Cup after 36 years

The 36 years of wait finally ended for Argentina as they lift the World Cup trophy defeating France in the nail-biting match held in Qatar.

After a 3-3 thriller across 120 minutes, Argentina defeated France 4-2 on penalties to win their third World Cup.

While in the first half of the final match, Argentina took a 2-0 lead with a goal by Lionel Messi and Angel Di Maria, however Kylian Mbappe of France brought the team back in the race. France scored 2 goals in the second half of the match making the match interesting. Both the teams tried to get another score till the announcement of full-time.

During the extra time, Messi found a gap to get a score however Mbappe equalled the score with another goal.

It was the penalty shootout that decided the winner. Argentina successfully scored four goals in the penalties while France managed to score two goals.

Lionel Messi received the ‘Golden Ball’, Kylian Mbappe won ‘Golden Boot’, Enzo Fernandez won the Young player of the World Cup 2022′ and
Emiliano Martinez won the ‘Golden Glove’ award.
