Raksha Rajya Mantri Ajay Bhatt Concludes Successful Visit to Saudi Arabia, Strengthens Defence Ties
Riyadh: Raksha Rajya Mantri Shri Ajay Bhatt concluded his impactful visit to Saudi Arabia on February 08, 2024, after leading the Indian delegation at the World Defence Show in Riyadh. The visit aimed at enhancing bilateral defence cooperation and exploring new avenues for collaboration between the two nations.
On the final day of his engagements, Shri Ajay Bhatt visited the General Authority for Defence Development (GADD), where he met with Governor Dr Faleh bin-Abdullah Al-Sulaiman. Discussions centered around strengthening bilateral defence ties and identifying potential areas for future collaboration. The Raksha Rajya Mantri extended an invitation to the GADD Governor to visit India at a mutually convenient date, further promoting diplomatic relations.
Additionally, Shri Ajay Bhatt visited the King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST) and held talks with its President, Dr Munir M Eldesouki. The visit included a tour of KACST premises, showcasing laboratories and production sites, fostering discussions on technological cooperation.
Earlier on February 07, the Raksha Rajya Mantri visited the headquarters of the Saudi Arabian Military Industry – Advanced Electronics Company (SAMI-AEC) in Riyadh. Productive discussions ensued, focusing on enhancing defence ties and potential areas for future collaboration. Shri Ajay Bhatt also took the opportunity to visit Al-Turaif, a UNESCO World Heritage site in Diriyah, underscoring the rich cultural exchange between the two nations.
A community event held at the Embassy of India in Riyadh honored Shri Ajay Bhatt. In his address, he highlighted the Government of India’s commitment to holistic development and empowerment of women in all fields. A cultural program organized by Indian school students showcased the diversity and unity of India’s heritage.
In a notable interaction, women officers from the Indian Armed Forces – Squadron Leader Bhawana Kanth, Colonel Ponung Doming, and Lieutenant Commander Annu Prakash – engaged with over 700 Indian students from CBSE-affiliated schools in Riyadh. The officers shared inspiring stories of determination, passion, and success, sparking enthusiasm among the students about potential opportunities for women in the Indian Armed Forces.
The visit by the Indian delegation, under the leadership of Raksha Rajya Mantri Ajay Bhatt, has not only reinforced the strength of bilateral ties but has also paved the way for enhanced cooperation and mutual commitments towards a safer and prosperous future.
