New Delhi: WaveX, the startup accelerator initiative under the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of India, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Foundation for Innovation and Technology Transfer (FITT), IIT Delhi, to strengthen innovation, incubation and entrepreneurship in the media, entertainment, broadcasting and communication technology sectors.
The MoU was signed in the presence of Sanjay Jaju, Secretary, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, at Shastri Bhawan, New Delhi, by representatives of WaveX and FITT.
Under the collaboration, FITT, IIT Delhi will support the implementation and expansion of the WaveX Programme, a national initiative aimed at fostering innovation and entrepreneurship by establishing and strengthening incubation centres across the country. FITT will provide strategic and operational guidance for setting up incubators, facilitate engagement with other IITs and innovation hubs, and offer access to technical expertise, research infrastructure, mentorship, intellectual property support and capacity-building initiatives for startups and incubation managers.
WaveX, under the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, will extend financial support, policy guidance and national visibility to the programme. Through this partnership, WaveX aims to build a future-ready media and entertainment technology ecosystem by enabling startups with funding support, mentorship, infrastructure access, industry linkages and exposure to investors and global markets.
Speaking on the occasion, Sanjay Jaju said that WaveX is envisioned as a national catalyst for innovation in media and entertainment technologies. He noted that the initiative will accelerate startups driving core technological disruption in the media industry, as well as innovators developing new applications on existing technology platforms. The objective, he added, is to catalyse the broader ecosystem and establish world-class incubation facilities for media and entertainment startups.
Dr. Nikhil Agarwal, Managing Director, FITT, IIT Delhi, who signed the MoU on behalf of FITT, said the partnership reflects FITT’s commitment to promoting technology-driven entrepreneurship in emerging and creative technology domains. He emphasised that by combining policy support, academic excellence and industry engagement, the collaboration aims to create a strong national incubation platform for startups operating at the intersection of media, technology and innovation.
The partnership marks a significant step towards leveraging the academic, research and innovation strengths of IIT Delhi to accelerate startup growth and technology commercialisation under the WaveX framework, further strengthening India’s media and entertainment innovation ecosystem.
