Union Minister Nitin Gadkari Announces ₹553.12 Crore Funding for Key Highway Development in WB

New Delhi: In a significant development for West Bengal’s infrastructure, Union Minister for Road Transport & Highways, Nitin Gadkari, announced an allocation of ₹553.12 crore for the development and 4-laning of crucial highway sections. The project encompasses the Krishnagar-Behrampore and Barasat–Barajaguli sections on National Highway – 34, traversing Nadia, Murshidabad, and North 24 Parganas districts under the NH(O) plan, with a cumulative length of 28.23 km.

Nitin Gadkari took to social media to share the news, highlighting the government’s commitment to enhancing road connectivity in the state. The primary objective of this project is to address congestion on the existing 2-lane highway, facilitating more efficient freight movement from South Bengal to North Bengal.

The allocation of ₹553.12 crore underscores the government’s focus on robust infrastructure development, aiming to improve connectivity, reduce travel time, and boost economic activities in the region. The expansion and modernization of these key roadway segments are expected to bring significant benefits to the local communities and contribute to the overall socio-economic development of West Bengal.
