Union Minister Jual Oram Reviews Tribal Affairs Schemes in New Delhi

New Delhi: Union Minister for Tribal Affairs, Jual Oram, along with Minister of State Durgadas Uikey, held a daylong meeting in New Delhi today to review the progress of various schemes and strategize key initiatives for the Ministry over the next 100 days.

The meeting commenced with a comprehensive presentation on the Ministry’s schemes and initiatives, followed by an overview of the budget. The key schemes and initiatives discussed included:

  1. Scholarship schemes for tribal students
  2. Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyaan (PM-JANMAN)
  3. Pradhan Mantri Adi Adarsh Gram Yojana (PMAAGY)
  4. Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRS)
  5. Livelihood schemes
  6. Grants under Proviso to Article 275 (1) of the Constitution
  7. Support to Tribal Research Institutes (TRIs)
  8. Support to voluntary organisations (NGOs)
  9. Major initiatives in the health sector
  10. Other ancillary matters handled by various divisions of the Ministry

Oram emphasized the importance of these initiatives in fostering an inclusive and equitable society. “Our focus is to ensure that the benefits of these schemes reach every tribal community member, empowering them to contribute to and benefit from India’s growth,” he stated. Uikey echoed these sentiments, highlighting the collaborative efforts needed to drive these initiatives forward.

Secretary of Tribal Affairs, Vibhu Nayar, along with senior officers, provided valuable insights and detailed plans to ensure timely and effective implementation. They outlined the strategic steps necessary to address challenges and enhance the outreach of the Ministry’s programs.

The meeting concluded with a unanimous commitment from all attendees to work tirelessly towards the outlined goals for empowering the tribal community. “We are dedicated to creating an environment where our tribal communities can thrive and achieve their full potential,” Oram affirmed.

This high-level review and strategic planning session underscores the Ministry’s dedication to advancing the welfare of tribal populations across the country, ensuring sustainable development, and improving the quality of life for tribal communities.
