Union Minister Inaugurates Centre of Excellence on Panchakarma at State Ayurvedic College

Guwahati: The Union Minister of Ayush and Ports, Shipping & Waterways, Sarbananda Sonowal, today inaugurated the Centre of Excellence on Panchakarma at the State Ayurvedic College & Hospital. The Minister also unveiled the newly renovated State Pharmacy within the campus premises, marking significant strides in the integration of traditional Ayurvedic practices with modern healthcare infrastructure.

Addressing the gathering, Sarbananda Sonowal expressed his delight in being part of the esteemed college, which has been a cornerstone in the propagation of Ayurvedic education and the training of numerous experts in the field. He emphasized the pivotal role of the college in fortifying patient care and the medical sector of the state. The addition of the Centre of Excellence on Panchakarma and the revamped State Pharmacy, he noted, would further empower the college to contribute significantly to the resurgent Ayush global wellness movement.

Highlighting the significance of Panchakarma in modern life, the Minister underscored its role in mitigating stress and promoting holistic well-being. He emphasized that the Centre of Excellence would provide students and practitioners with access to the latest advancements in Panchakarma therapy, ultimately benefiting patients who seek its therapeutic advantages.

Sarbananda Sonowal commended Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s efforts in popularizing Yoga and Ayush systems, noting the widespread acceptance of these traditional practices among the masses. He highlighted various initiatives undertaken to strengthen the Ayush sector in Assam, including the establishment of new Ayurvedic colleges, hospitals, and wellness centers, along with capacity-building efforts in neighboring regions.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by dignitaries including the Health & Family Welfare Minister of Assam, Keshab Mahanta, along with esteemed MLAs and representatives from the healthcare and academic sectors. The event witnessed the convergence of Ayush experts, faculty members, and students, underscoring a collective commitment to advancing traditional healthcare practices in the region.

The inauguration of the Centre of Excellence on Panchakarma signifies a significant step towards integrating traditional Ayurvedic wisdom with contemporary healthcare infrastructure, fostering a holistic approach to wellness and healing in the state of Assam.
