Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan Spearheads Major Skill Development Initiatives

New Delhi: The Ministry of Education and Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, under the leadership of Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, has embarked on several strategic partnerships aimed at enhancing India’s skill ecosystem. At a recent event chaired by the Minister and attended by prominent dignitaries, significant announcements were made to propel the nation’s skilling, re-skilling, and up-skilling agenda.

The event saw the launch of Mock Test 2.0 by NIMI (National Instructional Media Institute) in 12 languages, along with the introduction of four new-age courses under the Craftsmen Training Scheme (CTS) in Artificial Intelligence and Cyber Security. These initiatives aim to equip India’s youth with the necessary skills to thrive in a technology-driven market.

Congratulating all stakeholders for their collaborative efforts, Minister Dharmendra Pradhan emphasized that these initiatives and partnerships will prepare the populace for 21st-century job markets, foster innovation and entrepreneurship, and drive economic growth. He highlighted the importance of two newly inaugurated Centres of Excellence (CoEs) in the media and electronics sectors at the Skill Development Institute (SDI) in Bhubaneshwar, which will provide industry-ready skills to youth, enhancing employability and livelihoods.

The event witnessed the signing of 19 MoUs (Memorandums of Understanding) with various departments, including the Directorate General of Training (DGT), the National Institute for Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development (NIESBUD), and the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC). These collaborations with the private sector and ministerial departments aim to transform India into ‘Kushal Bharat Viksit Bharat,’ fostering a skilled workforce capable of meeting domestic and international market demands while leading innovation on a global scale.

Among the notable collaborations are partnerships with institutions such as IITs, universities, and industry players like Air India SATS Airport Services Pvt Ltd, Gems & Jewellery Promotion Export Council, and Accenture, Cisco, JP Morgan, and SAP, among others. These partnerships will play a crucial role in enhancing entrepreneurial skills and sustainable development across various sectors.

The event also marked the launch of two CoEs: Media and HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) at the SDI in Bhubaneswar. These centres, equipped with state-of-the-art technology, will offer training programs in Graphic Design, Digital Marketing, Video Editing, and other courses, tailored to meet industry demands.

Additionally, the Skill Gap Assessment Report on Green Hydrogen, released during the event, will guide the development of a skilled workforce in India’s green hydrogen industry, ensuring alignment with evolving sectoral demands.
