Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan Launches Innovative ‘MoE-AICTE Investor Network’ in New Delhi

New Delhi:  Union Minister for Education and Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, inaugurated the ‘Ministry of Education – AICTE Investor Network’ today in New Delhi. The event, attended by key dignitaries including Secretary, Higher Education, Ministry of Education, Shri K. Sanjay Murthy; Chairman, AICTE, Prof. T.G. Sitharam; Vice Chairman, AICTE, Dr. Abhay Jere; Chairman, National Educational Technology Forum NBA NAAC, Prof. Anil Sahasrabudhe, marked a transformative step towards fostering innovation, entrepreneurship, and addressing start-up funding challenges.

In his address, Shri Dharmendra Pradhan hailed the initiative as a groundbreaking effort to unite students, faculty, investors, and the market on a single platform. This move aims to strengthen the culture of innovation and aligns with the vision of NEP 2020, further catalyzing the start-up landscape to fulfill Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s vision of making India a global leader in start-ups and innovation.

Shri Pradhan emphasized that the MoE-AICTE Investor Network will fortify the support ecosystem for dynamic innovators from idea generation to successful graduation as commercially viable start-ups. He urged venture capitalists to go beyond their roles as mere investors and become mentors and partners. Stressing the importance of investing not only in ideas and businesses but also in the dreams of the nation, Shri Pradhan highlighted the overarching goal of achieving ‘Viksit Bharat 2047.’

AICTE Chairman Prof. T.G. Sitharam, in his welcoming address, underscored the pivotal role of collaboration between innovators and investors in driving innovation and fostering entrepreneurship. He highlighted that the strategic partnership through the Investor Network will generate new ideas, inventions, and solutions, resulting in sustainable businesses that deliver value to customers and contribute to economic growth and innovation ecosystems.

The launch saw the participation of over 50 investors and industry leaders from diverse sectors, engaging in interactive sessions with Shri Pradhan. This exchange aimed to establish networking opportunities, catalyze partnerships, and advance initiatives benefitting both investors and innovators.

To facilitate the effective onboarding of investors, framing policies, and developing a strategic flow for the ‘MoE-AICTE Investor Network,’ a 10-member steering committee has been established under the chairmanship of Dr. Abhay Jere. This committee is tasked with facilitating the onboarding of 100 investors, drafting policy documents, creating funding guidelines, setting eligibility criteria for startups, and monitoring the progress of funded projects.

Dr. Abhay Jere briefed about the program, highlighting how the ‘MoE – AICTE Investor Network’ will provide opportunities for investors to support innovative ideas within higher education institutions. The collaboration between investors and innovators is poised to bridge the gap, supporting the growth of student and faculty-led startups and contributing to the overall development of the education sector in India.

The ‘MoE – AICTE Investor Network,’ jointly established by AICTE and the Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell (MIC), seeks to foster innovation and entrepreneurship in the education sector. The network aims to empower educational institutions to become innovation hubs, create a conducive environment for start-up development, and transform innovative ideas into scalable and sustainable businesses. The platform aligns with Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s vision to create a vibrant ecosystem for innovation and entrepreneurship.

Launched with the objective of empowering educational institutions, fostering a conducive environment for start-up development, and providing essential resources to startups, the MoE-AICTE Investor Network further aims to bridge the gap between investors and transformative educational initiatives. It aspires to foster collaboration for the advancement of education and technology, setting the stage for a brighter future in innovation and entrepreneurship in India.
