Union Home Minister Amit Shah Addresses Assam Police Passing Out Parade

Guwahati: Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Shri Amit Shah, graced the passing out parade of 2,551 commandos of Assam Police as the Chief Guest in Guwahati, Assam. The ceremony, attended by the Chief Minister of Assam, the Director General of Police, and other dignitaries, witnessed Shri Amit Shah commending the newly trained police commandos for their dedication and commitment.

Addressing the gathering, Shri Amit Shah emphasized that the freshly graduated 2,551 police commandos would significantly contribute to strengthening the law and order situation and overall security in Assam. He acknowledged the challenges faced by Assam Police over the years, including communal riots, refugee problems, and insurgency. However, he lauded the force’s glorious history of facing and combating these challenges.

The Home Minister highlighted the positive change in the internal security scenario of the country from 2014 to 2024 under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. He noted a reduction of over 73 percent in violence in Naxal-affected areas, the Northeast, and Kashmir during this period.

Shri Amit Shah praised Assam’s transition from a period of unrest to a new era of development and peace. He mentioned the signing of peace agreements with armed groups, youth integration into the mainstream, and a significant reduction in the scope of the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA). The Home Minister also emphasized the stringent vigilance in border districts, collaboration between Central Paramilitary Forces (CAPF) and the police, and efforts to build an impenetrable wall on the border to curb smuggling.

Regarding the India-Myanmar border, Shri Amit Shah informed that the government is considering fencing it similar to the Indo-Bangladesh border. He mentioned the Northeast’s progress in becoming drug-free and the government’s commitment to providing corruption-free jobs to the youth of Assam.

Shri Amit Shah announced the consecration ceremony of Ram Lalla in Ayodhya on January 22, led by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. He expressed pride in India emerging as a global power under PM Modi’s leadership. The Home Minister concluded by highlighting India’s goal to become a fully developed and self-reliant nation by 2047 under PM Modi’s vision.

The passing out parade and Shri Amit Shah’s address symbolize the dedication of Assam Police and the transformative journey of the region toward peace, development, and national pride.
