Traffic Restrictions Announced for President Droupadi Murmu’s Odisha Visit

Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police has issued traffic regulations in light of President Droupadi Murmu’s five-day visit to Odisha, commencing December 3. The restrictions, aimed at ensuring smooth traffic flow and bolstering security, will be in effect from December 3 to 6, with specified roads and lanes temporarily closed during particular hours.

Traffic Restrictions Schedule:

  • Tuesday:
    • 4:50 PM to 5:35 PM: Roads between Airport Square, Hospital Square, AG Square, Raj Bhavan Square, and Hatiasuni Chhak via key points like Power House Square, Jaydev Vihar, and Xavier Square will be closed.
    • 6:00 PM to 6:30 PM: Roads from Neeladri Vihar through Xavier Square, Jaydev Vihar, Behera Sahi, and Raj Bhavan Square will remain inaccessible.
  • Wednesday:
    • 8:50 AM to 9:15 AM: The route from Raj Bhavan Square to Airport Square via AG Square and Hospital Square will be closed.
    • 11:50 AM to 12:15 PM: Roads from Airport Square to OUAT via AG Square and Gopabandhu Square will be restricted.
    • 5:00 PM to 5:25 PM: Roads leading from Raj Bhavan Square to Mausi Maa Square via AG Square, Museum Square, and Ravi Talkies Square will be shut.
    • 6:15 PM to 6:50 PM: The same route in reverse will be restricted.
  • Friday:
    • 8:50 AM to 9:30 AM: The Raj Bhavan Square to Airport Square route will be closed.

Additionally, heavy vehicles and buses will be diverted from Kalpana Square to Lingipur Square, with alternate routes designated via the Bypass Road at Lingipur Chhak.

Security Measures:

Bhubaneswar DCP Pinak Mishra stated, “In line with Blue Book Rules, we have implemented stringent security arrangements for the President’s visit.” To oversee the arrangements, a robust deployment includes:

  • 3 DCP-ranked officers
  • 15 Additional DCP-ranked officers
  • 45 ACP-ranked officers
  • 200 inspectors and other personnel

The restrictions aim to ensure smooth transit for the President’s engagements while minimizing disruptions for the public. Citizens are advised to plan their travel accordingly.
