
Delhi: The Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga (MDNIY) in Delhi hosted a distinguished delegation from the Department of Thai Traditional and Alternative Medicine (DTAM), Thailand, on September 17, 2024. The delegation, led by Dr. Taweesin Visanuyothin, Director General of DTAM, was received by Dr. Kashinath Samagandi, Director of MDNIY.
Dr. Samagandi welcomed the Thai delegation and provided an extensive overview of the Institute’s diverse programs and activities. He highlighted the significance of Yoga Certification Board (YCB) accreditation, which aims to elevate the standards of Yoga education globally. Dr. Visanuyothin expressed a deep interest in MDNIY’s evolution as a leading institution in Yoga.
In his address, Dr. Samagandi emphasized MDNIY’s commitment to preserving and promoting the ancient practices of Yoga. “The Institute is dedicated to maintaining the rich heritage of Yoga, which has been handed down through generations. We offer a holistic approach to physical, mental, and spiritual well-being,” he remarked.
The delegation was then given a guided tour of MDNIY’s state-of-the-art facilities, including its NABH-accredited Yoga Therapy Out-Patient Department (OPD), multimedia library, and various laboratories. During their visit, the delegation interacted with department heads and learned about Shatkriyas, traditional cleansing practices.
The visit also included a Yoga break session tailored for relaxation, aimed at working professionals, which provided the delegation a firsthand experience of the therapeutic benefits of Yoga.
In a gesture of environmental commitment, Dr. Visanuyothin and his team participated in a tree plantation drive themed ‘EK PED, MAA KE NAAM,’ reflecting a shared commitment to sustainability.
