Sushil Kumar: From Olympic Medalist To Murder Suspect

New Delhi: Being a two time Olympic medalist, wrestler Sushil Kumar is an idol for many sports persons who aspire to represent the country in Olympics. 

However, the Olympian who was absconding since May 4 has been arrested by Delhi Police from Jalandhar on Saturday. He was arrested along with co-accused Ajay Kumar. 

The wrestler was wanted after 23 year old Sagar Rana, a fellow wrestler died in a brawl that happened at Chhatrasal Stadium on May 4.

An FIR was lodged after one of the victims shared information about the incident where he mentioned about the presence of Sushil during the incident. Police had registered the murder case and have been investing. Delhi police had raided multiple areas in Haryana, Uttarakhand and Delhi NCR but Sushil could not be traced.

On May 18 Sushil had approached Rohini court for anticipatory bail, however the court dismissed the bail plea.

On  May 19 Delhi Police announced a reward of 1 lakh for the information on Sushil.

He is the only Indian to win two individual Olympic medals. He won a silver medal at the 2012 London Olympics and a bronze medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
