STPI Celebrates 33rd Foundation Day, Launches New Initiatives to Position India as a Tech Product Nation

New Delhi: Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) celebrated its 33rd Foundation Day at the Ashok Hotel in New Delhi, commemorating over three decades of unparalleled contributions to the Indian technology sector. The theme of this year’s event, “Positioning Bharat as a Tech Product Nation,” underscores STPI’s commitment to fostering innovation and nurturing a robust tech startup ecosystem.

The event was graced by notable dignitaries including S Krishnan, Secretary of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), and Arvind Kumar, Director General of STPI, alongside industry leaders like Vishal Dhupar, MD of NVIDIA, and Tejas Goenka, MD of Tally Solutions. They collectively acknowledged STPI’s significant impact over the past 33 years.

To further strengthen the tech startup ecosystem, STPI launched several key initiatives. The SayujNet platform and STPI Workspace portal (STPI-Workspace) were introduced to enhance networking and provide affordable incubation space for startups. Additionally, STPI announced the development of India’s sovereign cloud journey under the brand name “Ananta”. Ananta aims to be a hyperscale cloud solution made by Indians for Indians, offering Infrastructure as a Service (IAAS), Platform as a Service (PAAS), Software as a Service (SAAS), and GPU-based services.

The event also witnessed the signing of two significant MoUs aimed at fostering a holistic ecosystem for tech startups in India. The first MoU, between Sabudh Foundation and STPI, focuses on creating skill-development initiatives and entrepreneurial training in DeepTech for engineering graduates. The second MoU, between STPINEXT initiatives and DBS Bank India Pvt Ltd, aims to strengthen the tech startup ecosystem further.

S Krishnan unveiled the DeepTech Knowledge Report titled “Cutting-Edge Tech Forging India as a Software Product Nation.” This report provides strategic insights into the current state of cutting-edge technologies in India, highlighting challenges and opportunities for growth and innovation.

In his address, S Krishnan emphasized STPI’s expanding presence in Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities, stating, “STPI plays a pivotal role in creating an environment that helps India emerge as a product nation in software, software-embedded products, and even hardware. Their work is crucial for India’s digital transformation and economic growth.”

Arvind Kumar, Director General of STPI, reflected on STPI’s journey from three centers to 65 across the nation. “We have nurtured over 1,000 startups across various domains such as Blockchain, AI, IoT, AR, and VR. Our initiatives continue to advance the technology industry and foster entrepreneurship in India.”

Tejas Goenka highlighted the impact of software products on providing quality health and education services, stating, “Creating the right ambition, skillsets, and attitude in our talent pool is essential for bolstering India’s economic growth.”

Vishal Dhupar discussed the transformative potential of AI, saying, “AI will become a critical component of the next industrial revolution, driving significant developments in the digital economy. STPI has a crucial role in this transformative journey.”

The event featured two expert panel discussions on “Brand Bharat: Harnessing the Power of IT/ITES for AI and Deep Tech” and “Brand Bharat: Accelerating Design and Development of Electronic Products in India.” These discussions emphasized the importance of innovation, inclusivity, and strategic partnerships in driving India’s technological advancements.
