
Bhubaneswar: Celebrated sand sculptor Padma Shri Sudarsan Pattnaik was accorded a hero’s welcome upon his return to Bhubaneswar on Saturday, following his remarkable achievement of winning the gold medal at the International Sand Art Championship held in Russia.
Upon his arrival, Pattnaik was warmly received by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi at the CM’s residence. During a felicitation ceremony, CM Majhi lauded Pattnaik’s outstanding talent and artistic prowess. He announced a reward of ₹2 lakh in recognition of Pattnaik’s exceptional achievement. State Culture Minister Suryabanshi Suraj also graced the occasion.
Speaking highly of Pattnaik’s accomplishment, CM Majhi described the sand artist’s gold medal triumph in Russia as a profound artistic connection with the divine, coinciding with the auspicious period between the Rath Yatra and Bahuda Yatra festivals. He emphasized that Pattnaik’s portrayal of the Nandighosh chariot in Russia has not only showcased Odia culture but has also elevated Odia pride on the global stage.
