Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh Hails Multinational Exercise ‘Tarang Shakti’ as a Boost to Global Defence Cooperation

Jodhpur: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh emphasized the importance of Multinational Exercise ‘Tarang Shakti’ in fostering cooperation, coordination, and trust among partner nations. Addressing the Distinguished Visitors’ Day event in the second phase of the exercise in Jodhpur, Singh lauded the event as a significant milestone in strengthening India’s defence ties with friendly nations.

Singh underscored that ‘Tarang Shakti’ instills confidence among partner countries, signaling a unified stance in times of need. “Through this exercise, India has further solidified its defence relations with participating nations. Whenever the need arises, we will stand together,” he stated.

Reaffirming India’s commitment to mutual cooperation, Singh added, “Our nation believes in the concept of marching forward hand-in-hand with others. Exercises like this, of such complexity and magnitude, allow soldiers from diverse cultures and combat experiences to learn and grow together.”

Indian Air Force: A Symbol of Strength and Growth

Singh also used the occasion to celebrate the Indian Air Force’s (IAF) evolution into one of the most formidable forces in the world. “We take pride not only in being the fastest-growing economy but also in the achievements of our armed forces. The IAF has grown from six squadrons at the time of independence to becoming a modern force equipped with cutting-edge aircraft and next-generation equipment,” Singh remarked.

The Defence Minister highlighted India’s transformation from an arms importer to an exporter. He pointed to Hindustan Aeronautics Limited’s recent collaboration with Safran Helicopter Engines, illustrating India’s growing self-reliance in defence manufacturing. “Today, we export arms and equipment to about 90 countries. Our defence sector has taken bold steps towards indigenization in areas like light combat aircraft, radars, sensors, and electronic warfare systems,” Singh noted.

Showcasing India’s Defence Capabilities

The event saw the participation of notable leaders, including Minister of Culture and Tourism Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Chief of Defence Staff Gen Anil Chauhan, Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari, Chief of Army Staff Gen Upendra Dwivedi, Chief of Naval Staff Adm Dinesh K Tripathi, and senior military officials from friendly nations.

Highlights included demonstrations by the Agniveer Vayu Women Air Warrior Drill Team (AWDT) and stunning displays from the LCA Tejas, LCH Prachand, Sarang, and SKAT teams, showcasing India’s military prowess and innovative capabilities.

Inauguration of IDAX-24

Later in the day, Rajnath Singh inaugurated the prestigious International Defence and Aerospace Expo (IDAX-24), which highlighted India’s commitment to indigenous defence manufacturing and innovation in aerospace technologies. The expo saw participation from startups, MSMEs, and major aeronautical industries, with 68 industry leaders showcasing cutting-edge technologies.

With representatives from seven nations and 21 observer countries participating in phase two of the exercise, IDAX-24 underscored India’s growing role in fostering international collaboration in defence and aerospace. The event facilitated dialogue, cooperation, and the exchange of expertise, further bolstering India’s global standing in the sector.
