Rajnath Singh Commends Soldiers During Siachen Visit

Siachen: Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh embarked on a significant journey to Siachen, the world’s highest battlefield, to conduct a firsthand assessment of the security situation and to interact with the soldiers deployed in the extreme weather and tough terrain conditions. Accompanied by Chief of the Army Staff General Manoj Pande, Lieutenant General MV Suchindra Kumar, and Lieutenant General Rashim Bali, the Raksha Mantri’s visit aimed to gain insights into the operational readiness and challenges faced by the troops in the region.

After an aerial reconnaissance, Rajnath Singh landed at a forward post at an altitude of 15,100 feet, where he received a detailed briefing on the operational readiness and the prevailing security situation in the Siachen Glacier. He engaged in discussions with the commanders on the ground to understand the operational challenges firsthand.

Addressing the soldiers, Rajnath Singh commended their unwavering dedication and valor in safeguarding the nation’s borders under extreme conditions. He expressed the nation’s gratitude to the Armed Forces personnel for their sacrifices, which ensure the safety and security of every citizen. Singh emphasized that the acts of bravery and determination exhibited by the soldiers in the icy cold glacier will be remembered with pride and serve as inspiration for future generations.

Describing Siachen as a symbol of India’s sovereignty and determination, the Raksha Mantri highlighted its significance, stating that it represents the capital of courage, grit, and determination, just as Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru symbolize different aspects of India’s identity.

The visit coincided with the recent celebration of the 40th anniversary of the success of Operation Meghdoot, launched by the Indian Army in Siachen on April 13, 1984. Singh hailed Operation Meghdoot as a golden chapter in the country’s military history, expressing pride in its success.

As a mark of respect and tribute to the bravehearts who made the supreme sacrifice in service of the Motherland, Rajnath Singh laid a wreath at the Siachen War Memorial.
