New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi graced the Beating Retreat Ceremony with his presence, partaking in the majestic display of military music and precision drill at the historic Vijay Chowk in New Delhi.
Taking to X, the Prime Minister shared his experience, stating, “Attended the Beating Retreat Ceremony earlier this evening.” The Beating Retreat Ceremony is a spectacular event that marks the culmination of the four-day-long Republic Day celebrations in India.
The ceremony, held at the Vijay Chowk, brings together the soul-stirring tunes of the bands of the three wings of the Indian military – the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force. It also features performances by the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) and the Delhi Police. The amalgamation of various military tunes, coupled with the intricate drill movements, creates a mesmerizing atmosphere, paying homage to the rich musical and martial traditions of the Indian armed forces.
Attended by the President of India, Vice President, Prime Minister, and other dignitaries, the Beating Retreat Ceremony is a symbolic farewell to the Republic Day celebrations, showcasing the discipline, coordination, and musical prowess of the Indian armed forces.
The ceremony concludes with the stirring strains of the hymn “Abide With Me,” leaving an indelible mark on all those who witness this grand spectacle.
