President Murmu Lays Foundation Stones for Key Development Projects in Odisha

Rairangpur: In a significant boost to regional development, President of India, Droupadi Murmu, laid the foundation stones for several critical infrastructure projects in Rairangpur, Odisha, today. The projects include three new rail lines—Bangiriposi-Gorumahisani, Buramara-Chakulia, and Badampahar-Kendujhargarh—along with a Tribal Research and Development Centre, Dandbose Airport, and a new building for the Sub-Divisional Hospital in Rairangpur.

Addressing the gathering, President Murmu expressed pride in her connection to the land and its people. “Being a daughter of this soil, I have always felt a deep bond with my birthplace. No matter how demanding my responsibilities, the love and affection of the people of this region continue to draw me closer to them,” she said.

The President highlighted the transformative potential of the new rail lines and airport, which are expected to enhance transportation, commerce, and economic activities in the region. She also noted the importance of the new hospital building, which will include a 100-bed facility, significantly improving healthcare access for local residents.

President Murmu underscored the benefits of the Government of India’s Purvodaya vision, which aims to accelerate development in eastern India. She emphasized the region’s growth through welfare initiatives focused on education, skill development, health, tourism, and improved connectivity.

The President expressed particular satisfaction with the establishment of Eklavya Model Residential Schools for tribal children. “More than 100 new Eklavya Model Residential Schools are being set up in Odisha, including 23 in Mayurbhanj district. These schools will empower tribal children with quality education, enabling them to contribute significantly to society and the nation,” she stated.

The foundation-laying ceremony marks a pivotal step in bringing advanced infrastructure and services to Mayurbhanj district and the surrounding regions. The rail projects are expected to improve connectivity across the state, while the new airport will facilitate regional and national travel. The establishment of the Tribal Research and Development Centre aims to preserve and promote the rich heritage and culture of Odisha’s tribal communities.

These initiatives reflect a collaborative effort between local, state, and national governments to foster inclusive development and improve the quality of life for Odisha’s residents.
