President Droupadi Murmu Virtually Inaugurates Visitor Facilitation Centre at Rashtrapati Nilayam

New Delhi:  The President of India, Smt Droupadi Murmu, inaugurated the much-anticipated Visitor Facilitation Centre (VFC) at Rashtrapati Nilayam today. The event marked another milestone in enhancing the cultural and historical experience for visitors at this iconic location.

Addressing the audience, President Murmu highlighted the numerous historical attractions within Rashtrapati Nilayam, emphasizing their role in allowing visitors to immerse themselves in the rich cultural tapestry of India. Notable features include a 120-foot replica of the historic wooden flagpost, the Jai Hind stepwell, a maze garden, a children’s park, and the awe-inspiring divine Shiva and Nandi bull sculptures in the rock garden.

President Murmu expressed confidence that the newly inaugurated VFC would significantly contribute to enriching the overall visitor experience by serving as a comprehensive facility catering to all needs. This one-stop centre aims to connect people with the profound heritage of the nation, fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation for India’s cultural legacy.

Elaborating on the underlying goal behind developing these attractions, President Murmu spoke passionately about nurturing a community of young, enthusiastic change-makers who would carry forward the rich legacy of the nation. She urged the youth to seize the opportunity to explore and understand the history of the country, emphasizing the importance of preserving and celebrating the rich heritage while committing to unity and development.

Among the dignitaries present at the virtual inauguration were the Governor of Telangana, Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan, and the Minister of Transport, Government of Telangana, Shri Ponnam Prabhakar. Officials from the President’s Secretariat and the National Informatics Centre (NIC) were also in attendance.

Rashtrapati Nilayam, the official retreat of the President of India, remains open to the general public throughout the year, except during the President’s southern sojourn. This initiative reflects the government’s commitment to making the country’s historical and cultural treasures accessible to all, fostering a sense of pride and connection among citizens.
