Bhubaneswar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi embraced the local Odia culture during his visit to Gadakana village in Bhubaneswar today, where he participated in the ‘Gruha Prabesha’ ceremony for beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY). The PM savoured the traditional Odia sweet delicacy ‘Kheeri’ at the home of a PMAY beneficiary, Antaryami Nayak.
Modi headed straight to Shabara Sahi in Gadakana, where residents eagerly awaited his arrival. The Prime Minister inaugurated the homes of 20 beneficiaries, including 10 individuals, 8 women from Self-Help Groups (SHGs), and 2 beneficiaries of the PM SVANidhi Scheme. Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Majhi joined him in the ceremony, marking a significant moment for the community.
During his visit to Antaryami Nayak’s home spent time interacting with Nayak’s family, blessing their children, and performing a brief puja.
Following the house visits, Modi spent over half an hour interacting with beneficiaries of the PMAY, discussing their experiences with the government’s housing initiative and their overall economic well-being. He also took the opportunity to ask how various government schemes, including the PM SVANidhi and SHG programs, had impacted their lives.
In addition to these engagements, Modi encouraged the community to participate in the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ initiative by planting trees to promote environmental sustainability.
A heavy police presence, led by Police Commissioner Sanjeev Panda, ensured the smooth execution of the event.
