Phase 3 of General Elections 2024 Witnesses Enthusiastic Voter Turnout

New Delhi: Polling in the third phase of the General Elections 2024 commenced at 7 am today across 93 Parliamentary Constituencies (PCs), witnessing an approximate voter turnout of 61.45% as of 8 pm. Despite the scheduled polling closing at 6 pm, voters were observed waiting in queues at many polling stations, showcasing their eagerness to participate in the democratic process. Citizens from 11 States/Union Territories enthusiastically cast their votes, overcoming hot weather conditions in some areas.

Introducing a new initiative aimed at boosting voter participation, the Election Commission of India (ECI) initiated a system of SMS alerts, WhatsApp messages, and voice calls from national and state icons, with support from major Telecom Service Providers. This innovative approach aimed to encourage citizens to exercise their voting rights.

With the conclusion of Phase-3, polling has now concluded in 20 States/Union Territories and 283 Parliamentary Constituencies for the General Elections 2024. A total of 1331 candidates were in the electoral fray during this phase.
