
Bhubaneswar: The National Medical Commission (NMC) has greenlit a proposal to commence postgraduate courses in the Departments of Anaesthesiology and Ophthalmology at the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education & Research (PGIMER) and Capital Hospital, Bhubaneswar. This significant development was confirmed by the State Health and Family Welfare Department, marking a pivotal moment in medical education in Odisha.
According to the announcement, the postgraduate courses will commence with three seats each in the Departments of Anaesthesiology and Ophthalmology at PGIMER & Capital Hospital Bhubaneswar. These new courses are slated to begin from the academic year 2024-25, promising to fortify the medical education landscape in the region.
Expressing delight over the approval, the State Health Department took to Twitter to share the news, stating, “Happy to share that the National Medical Commission has approved the proposal to start postgraduate courses in the Departments of Anaesthesiology (3 seats) and Ophthalmology (3 seats) in Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education & Research and Capital Hospital, Bhubaneswar.”
