Bhubaneswar: More than 46,000 young men and women have been appointed to government posts in Odisha since June 2024, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi said on Saturday, as 1,101 newly recruited candidates received their appointment letters at the 17th State-Level Nijukti Mela in Bhubaneswar.
The latest batch includes recruits to the Health, Revenue, Finance and Cooperation departments. Majhi said the recruitment drive was being carried out with emphasis on transparency, impartiality and merit while filling vacant positions across the government.
The Chief Minister said government employment should be viewed not simply as a career opportunity but as an opportunity to serve the people. Congratulating the new appointees and their families, he urged them to discharge their responsibilities with dedication and sincerity.
He also asked the recruits to keep public grievances at the centre of their work, particularly at the grassroots level. Reiterating the government’s “Zero Tolerance” approach to corruption, Majhi called for transparent functioning and responsive public service.
The event also saw the launch of a special age-based guideline booklet on mental health protection for children and students. The guidelines cover different age groups, from the pre-primary stage to youth, and are aimed at supporting mental well-being during different stages of development.
Majhi said efforts to safeguard the mental health of children and young people were important for building a healthy and capable generation.
Calling upon the newly appointed employees to consider the people of Odisha as their own family, the Chief Minister said commitment to public service, transparency and dedication would be crucial to achieving the state’s development goals under “Samruddha Odisha 2036” and “Viksit India 2047”.
