Odisha Unveils Stellar Hockey Squads for Khelo India Youth Games 2024

Bhubaneswar: The Hockey Association of Odisha (HAO) unveiled the state men’s and women’s teams set to participate in the upcoming Khelo India Youth Games in Chennai, commencing on January 19, 2024.

Collaboratively organized by the Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu and the Sports Authority of India, the Khelo India Youth Games serve as a pivotal platform for nurturing the nation’s budding sports talents. The women’s team will be under the guidance of Coaches David John and Pinhas Das, while the men’s team will be led by BJ Kariapa and Lakshmi Narayan Pitti.

The men’s team boasts an impressive lineup, featuring skilled players such as Vivek Lakra, Abhimanyu Gouda, Anmol Ekka, Ajay Xalxo, Wilson Xaxa, Prasant Barla, Sanjit Tirkey, Jasman Munda, Rohit Kullu, Arbin Toppo, Mukesh Toppo, Pratap Toppo, Adrohit Ekka, Prem Dayal Giri, Deepak Pradhan, Deonath Nanwar, Karan Lakra, and Krishna Mohan.

On the women’s front, the team showcases an equally promising roster with talents like Engil Harsharani Minz, Namsi Jurika, Sonali Ekka, Anjali Barwa, Puja Ramchuria, Puja Sahoo Sumi Mundari, Mariyam Dhanwar, Janhabi Bada, Ahayla Lakra, Tanuja Toppo, Drupati Naik, Amisha Ekka, Komal Gurjar, Surekha Bahala, Supriya Kujur, Karuna Minz, and Sunelita Toppo.

“I am excited for our Odisha team, and I am confident that they will perform exceptionally well and make our state proud. Best wishes to the entire team for a successful and brilliant performance,” stated Dr. Dilip Tirkey, President, Hockey Association of Odisha.

“The players have shown remarkable dedication, putting in hours of practice to refine their skills. Our players have worked really hard, practising and improving their ability over time. I’m positive about good results because these kids are determined to achieve their goals,” added David John, Head Coach.
