Odisha TEX 2025 Paves Way for ₹7,800 Cr Investment, 53,000 Jobs in Textile Sector

Bhubaneswar: Odisha took a giant leap toward becoming a major textile hub in Eastern India with the inauguration of Odisha TEX 2025—the state’s largest-ever textile and apparel industry summit. Declaring Odisha as the emerging powerhouse of the sector, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi emphasized the state’s commitment to creating a modern and inclusive textile ecosystem that empowers both industry and workers.

Held in Bhubaneswar, the landmark event attracted over 650 delegates, including leading domestic and global textile brands, apparel manufacturers, investors, startups, and senior government officials. The summit underscored Odisha’s growing potential in textile manufacturing, innovation, and job creation, and witnessed an overwhelming response from industry leaders.

In a major outcome of the summit, 33 Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) were signed, unlocking a staggering ₹7,808 crore in investments. These projects are expected to generate over 53,300 jobs, significantly boosting employment, particularly for women and youth in rural and semi-urban regions.

Companies such as Page Industries, First Step Baby Wear, KPR Mills, Sportking, Anubhav Apparels, Bon & Co., Adarsh Knitwear, and B.L. International committed to investing in Odisha, further strengthening the state’s presence across the textile value chain—from yarn production to finished apparel and technical textiles.

Launching two new state-of-the-art Textile and Footwear Parks with plug-and-play facilities, the Chief Minister announced that the state would offer enhanced employment cost subsidies under the Odisha Technical Textile & Apparel Policy 2022. The subsidy for male workers has been increased from ₹5,000 to ₹6,000 per month, while female workers will receive ₹7,000 per month, up from ₹6,000 earlier. These efforts, he said, aim to improve worker retention, encourage female participation, and ensure industrial stability.

The Chief Minister also announced that Odisha TEX will now be held annually to showcase not only the state’s modern textile strides but also its timeless handloom legacy. He reaffirmed Odisha’s goal of creating over one lakh jobs in the textile and apparel sector by 2030, supported by the expansion of textile clusters in districts like Bolangir, Keonjhar, Sambalpur, Jajpur, Ganjam, and Cuttack.

“Odisha TEX 2025 is not just an event—it is a declaration of intent. We are ready to lead the textile revolution in Eastern India with world-class infrastructure, robust policies, and a skilled workforce,” CM Majhi said. He assured full government support to investors through a newly formed dedicated Task Force under the Industries Department to fast-track implementation and provide seamless facilitation.

Hon’ble Industries Minister Sampad Chandra Swain said that the summit ushered in a new era for Odisha’s textile industry, combining policy support with infrastructure readiness, skill-linked education, and access to international markets under the ‘China+1’ sourcing strategy. “Odisha is uniquely positioned with access to raw materials, strong port connectivity, and a business-friendly policy environment, making it a preferred investment destination,” he added.

Handloom, Textiles & Handicrafts Minister Pradeep Bala Samant emphasized the government’s twin focus: strengthening modern textile infrastructure while preserving and promoting Odisha’s heritage in handloom and traditional crafts. “By empowering weavers and expanding market access, we aim to make growth inclusive,” he said.

With record investments, policy boosts, and active industry participation, Odisha TEX 2025 has successfully placed Odisha on the national textile map as the next big destination for integrated, sustainable, and innovation-driven growth in apparel and technical textiles.
