Odisha Philatelists bring laurels in Dubai Stamp Festival

Bhubaneswar: Philatelists from Odisha awarded for exhibiting some of the rare stamp collections at the Emirates 2022 World Stamp Exhibition held at the Dubai Exhibition Centre from 19 – 23 January 2022.

Organised by the Emirates Post Group in collaboration with the Emirates Philatelic Association, the International exhibition showcased some of the best collections in the world.

Five members of the Eastern India Philatelists’ Association in different classes participated in the exhibition and each of them won medals and honours.

Shanti Swarup Rath, the incumbent Secretary of the Eastern India Philatelic Association (EIPA), got a Large Vermeil for his exhibit on postal history  of ‘French India Settlements’. Anup Kumar Raut too was awarded with a Large Vermeil for his exhibit ‘Early India Cancellations’. Similarly, Om Prakash Jagati was awarded a Large Vermeil for his exhibit ‘From Cloud to Ocean’.

Rahul Ganguly and Biswanath Mishra were awarded bronze medals  for their exhibits. Biswanath Mishra’s exhibit on horses titled  ‘Equidae: the symbol of Speed’ was unique and portrayed Horses as shown on postage stamps.

Odisha is now a prominent state with eminent philatelists, many of whom have been awarded medals both in India and abroad. EIPA has emerged as a frontline philatelic association with nationwide membership.
