Bhubaneswar: The 12th edition of Odisha Manaska, a monthly discussion forum dedicated to conversations on Odisha and identity, was held today at Sahid Nagar, Bhubaneswar. The session also featured an engaging interaction with the cast and crew of the upcoming Odia anthology film Indradhanu.
Organised by All Things Odisha and hosted at the head office of ExtraOdinari and Safe Odisha For Her, this month’s discussion centered on the theme “From Monochrome to Mosaic: Identity in All Its Dimensions”. The conversation delved into the evolving, layered nature of identity, emphasizing that identity cannot be confined to binaries, but rather exists across a vibrant spectrum—much like a rainbow.
Over 20 participants from diverse walks of life came together for an evening of thoughtful exchange, where each voice was heard with empathy and openness. The circle saw active participation, reflecting the spirit of collective wisdom and shared lived experiences.
The event was enriched by the presence of the Indradhanu team, including director Arjun Samantray and actors Abhishek Giri, Samarpita Dash, Parambir Chakra, among others. They shared insights into the film’s creative process and how its stories resonate with the broader theme of identity.
The session was anchored by Sandip Kumar Bal, Sonali Priyadarsini, and Sonali Senapati. Among the attendees were Pranay Manjari Swain of Safe Odisha For Her, heritage researcher Anil Dhir, food researcher Ritu Pattanaik, actor Swastik Choudhury, cinematographer Falgu Satpathy, professionals such as Anurag Jena, Aditya, Akakshita, Monalisa, and several other creatives and professionals.
Launched in August 2024, Odisha Manaska has served as a dynamic physical platform for dialogue on Odisha’s cultural, social, and political identity. In its past 11 editions, the forum has explored themes such as Odisha’s evolution since 1936, dying cultural practices, maritime heritage, food and identity, migration, love, river revival, and regional conflicts.
What makes Odisha Manaska unique is its inclusive and non-judgmental atmosphere, where students, researchers, artists, and citizens come together each month to reflect, converse, and connect on issues that matter to the state and its people.
