Odisha Govt Cancels Leave of Top Bureaucrats Amid Rising Tensions with Pakistan

Bhubaneswar: Amid escalating tensions on the India-Pakistan border, the Odisha government has cancelled all sanctioned leaves for senior bureaucrats, directing them to return to duty immediately. The move comes as a precautionary measure to ensure administrative readiness in the face of the developing situation.

In an official notification issued on Friday by Additional Secretary to the Government, Manoj Kumar Mohanty, all Regional Development Commissioners (RDCs) and District Collectors (Collectors and District Magistrates) who are currently on leave have been instructed to report back to their respective headquarters without delay. The order also makes it clear that no further leave applications will be entertained until further notice.

“In view of the ongoing war-like conditions on the Western front of the country, all leaves sanctioned earlier in favour of all RDCs and Collectors & DMs are hereby cancelled,” the notification stated. It further directed that officers must rejoin duty immediately to ensure uninterrupted administrative functions.

The government’s swift directive underscores its focus on maintaining administrative continuity and ensuring that all district and regional authorities are fully mobilized during this period of heightened national alert. While the situation in Odisha remains stable, the government appears to be taking no chances, positioning the state’s administrative machinery to respond promptly to any eventuality.
