
Bhubaneswar: To procure covid vaccines from vaccine manufacturing companies from different countries through global tender, Odisha has formed two committees. Odisha State Medical Corporation Limited (OSMCL) will float the global e-tender.
A technical team consisting 10 members also formed to be headed by the Directorate of Medical Education and Training (DMET) and a managerial committee with nine members has been formed to be headed by OSMCL MD.
Odisha needs to procure 3,87.39.022 doses of vaccines to vaccinate 1.93.69.511 people aged between 18-44 years. The state had placed an order of Covid vaccines from the two vaccine manufacturing units Bharat Biotech International and Serum Institute Life Science Pvt Ltd, but it will take a few months to receive all the vaccines from the unit.
Authorities believe that procuring vaccines from other countries would help to speed up to vaccinate maximum people as soon as possible.
Meanwhile,the Hyderabad-based company Bharat Biotech has started direct supplies of Covaxin vaccine to 14 states. Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Gujarat, Jammu & Kashmir, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal who will get direct supplies based on the allocations received by the Government of India.
