Odisha FC Triumphs in a Nail-biting Encounter Against East Bengal FC

 

Bhubaneswar:  At the Kalinga Stadium, Odisha FC secured a remarkable 2-1 victory over East Bengal FC in the ongoing ISL season 2023-24. The game witnessed early drama as Vishnu from East Bengal FC found the net in the first minute, but Odisha FC fought back with goals from Diego in the 40th minute and Princeton in the 61st minute.

The opening minute saw Vishnu showcasing skillful dribbling, navigating past three Odisha players, and scoring from inside the box, giving East Bengal FC an early lead. However, Odisha FC displayed resilience and determination throughout the match.

In the 38th minute, Odisha FC was awarded a penalty after Rakip fouled Mauricio in the box. Mauricio confidently converted from the spot in the 40th minute, leveling the score at 1-1. The first half was marked by intense action and four yellow cards for East Bengal FC players.

The turning point came in the 61st minute when Jahouh delivered a clever corner, finding Princeton who skillfully slotted the ball into the net, putting Odisha FC in the lead at 2-1.

Both teams continued to exhibit exciting football in the remaining minutes. East Bengal FC attempted to equalize, with Vazquez delivering a well-placed cross in the 82nd minute, but Odisha FC’s goalkeeper Amrinder made a crucial punch to deny the opportunity.

Odisha FC now sits at the top of the league table with 35 points, solidifying their position as strong contenders in the ISL 2023-24 season. Their next challenge awaits them as they travel to Chennai to face Chennaiyin FC on March 3rd, 2024, at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium at 7.30 PM IST. Football enthusiasts can expect another thrilling encounter as Odisha FC aims to maintain their winning momentum.
