Odisha Extends Cashless Treatment to Polling Personnel During General Elections 2024

Bhubaneswar: To safeguard the health and well-being of polling personnel during the upcoming simultaneous general elections 2024 in Odisha, the State Health and Family Welfare Department has extended cashless treatment under the Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana (BSKY). This initiative aims to provide immediate medical assistance to personnel who may be affected by heatstroke while on election duty.

Shalini Pandit, Commissioner-cum-Secretary of the Department, issued a letter to all empanelled private hospitals within the state under BSKY, outlining the extension of cashless treatment facilities. According to the directive, in addition to the existing BSKY package treatments, all individuals on election duty will now be eligible for cashless treatment in empanelled private hospitals in the event of heatstroke during the forthcoming general elections.

Under this arrangement, affected personnel need only produce their appointment or engagement order issued for election duty to avail of cashless treatment at designated private hospitals. Immediate medical assistance will be provided to individuals experiencing heatstroke, with empanelled hospitals instructed to raise bills in offline mode as per BSKY package rates. Subsequent payment will be facilitated by the State Health Assurance Society.
