Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi launched a state-wide awareness drive on Saturday, flagging off the Subhadra Yojana Awareness Rath (chariot) to promote the Subhadra Yojana, a flagship scheme aimed at empowering women across the state.
Accompanied by Deputy Chief Minister and Women & Child Development Minister Pravati Parida, CM Majhi highlighted the scheme’s importance, stating that it would uplift women from various socio-economic backgrounds in Odisha. “The Subhadra Yojana is not just an opportunity for women empowerment but also a reflection of Odia Asmita (pride),” said Majhi during the launch.
The awareness chariots will travel across the state to inform women about how to apply for the scheme, ensuring that its benefits reach every eligible individual.
Deputy CM Parida reassured women that there is no deadline for registration, and all qualifying candidates will be included. “The awareness chariot will address any confusion regarding the scheme,” Parida stated, emphasizing the government’s commitment to covering all eligible beneficiaries.
Under the Subhadra Yojana, women beneficiaries will receive an annual sum of ₹10,000 for five years, with the first installment of ₹5,000 to be disbursed on September 17, coinciding with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday.
