Odisha Chief Minister’s Grievance Cell Suspends Operations During Election Period

Bhubaneswar: With the enforcement of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) for the upcoming general elections, the Odisha Chief Minister’s Grievance Cell has ceased operations until the conclusion of the electoral process.

An official announcement from the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) on Sunday confirmed the suspension of activities at the Grievance Cell given the MCC regulations. The temporary closure of the Grievance Cell is in line with the electoral guidelines aimed at ensuring fairness and impartiality during the election period.

Scheduled hearings slated for Monday, which were intended to address public grievances, have been postponed indefinitely. District Magistrates and Superintendents of Police were expected to participate in these hearings, but the enforcement of the Model Code prompted their postponement.

Odisha Chief Secretary, Pradeep Kumar Jena, has notified District Collectors and SPs about the activation of the Model Code of Conduct following the announcement of Lok Sabha and Assembly elections in the state. This directive emphasizes the need for strict adherence to the electoral guidelines and the cessation of activities that could potentially influence the electoral process.
