Odisha Braces for Intense Heatwave as IMD Issues Yellow Warning

Bhubaneswar: Odisha is set to experience severe heat wave conditions in the coming days, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicting extreme temperatures across multiple districts from March 14 to 18. A yellow warning has been issued, urging residents to stay cautious and take necessary precautions against the rising heat.

According to the IMD forecast, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, and Mayurbhanj will face severe heat wave conditions, while other districts, including Sundargarh, Boudh, Bolangir, Balasore, Bhadrak, Angul, Dhenkanal, Sonepur, Kalahandi, and Gajapati, are likely to experience intense heat. Additionally, warm nights are expected in Sundargarh, Boudh, Bolangir, and Malkangiri, with hot and humid conditions prevailing in Khurda, Puri, Jajpur, and other coastal districts.

The IMD has outlined a day-wise forecast, highlighting that Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, and Mayurbhanj will see the worst impact on March 15, while Sundargarh, Boudh, and Bolangir will continue to experience extreme heat on March 16. The heat wave is expected to persist in Boudh and Sonepur on March 17, with Boudh and Sambalpur remaining affected on March 18. Coastal areas are also predicted to experience hot and humid weather during this period.

Authorities have advised people to stay hydrated, avoid direct exposure to the sun during peak hours, and take necessary precautions to safeguard themselves against the harsh weather conditions.
